You would have thought your job was safe when one of the biggest companies in the free world bought the comany where you were employed, but for 200 workers at headset maker Dr. Dre’s Beats that wont be the case.
Not all is lost however.
Most will be offered different jobs within the organization, while others will be guaranteed work until January 2015.
The majority of the jobs lost are the result of redundancies. The iPhone maker had 41,300 employees at the end of June.
Earlier this summer Apple purchased Beats Music for $3 billion. The deal became final on Friday, with an announcement on the company website
Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said in a company statement that “We’re excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee. Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple.”
